Praised Dame Margaret Sparrow

In a special feature in the May 2011 newsletter of the Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand entitled "Honouring Dame Margaret Sparrow", Jan Riach, Vasectomy Nurse, made the following statement honouring the former abortionist and president of ALRANZ:[2]

"I have known Dame (Dr) Margaret Sparrow for about 30 years having worked with her for FPA Wellington. She encouraged me to join ALRANZ where I was persuaded to become Treasurer. It is hard to refuse Margaret when she asks you to do a job. She inspires people to be more than they are by her own example of energy and intellect. Her handling of people in the political arena is remarkable because she has honesty and integrity and compassion for Women and Women’s issues. Her love of the history of her fields of interest is impressive as well. Margaret has been a good friend, colleague and adviser to me over the years I have known her. I wish her well for her already busy retirement from her Profession, and from the role of President of ALRANZ. I know she will continue to be involved in the work of ALRANZ working quietly in the background."
