Rachel Shadbolt came to New Zealand from the UK in 2006 for family reasons notably to be near her grandchildren. Rachel has a history of involvement in the health sector, and in the 1960s worked with Malcolm Potts at IPPF. Through this Rachel became involved in the campaign for changes in the UK abortions laws and supported David Steel’s 1967 Bill. She has maintained an interest in the politics of abortion and has helped in lobbying parliamentarians and attending court cases.[1]

Shadbolt served on the National Executive Committee of the Abortion Law Reform Association of New Zealand until 2011.[1]
