New Zealand Abortion Laws

The Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act 1977 and the Crimes Act 1961 (with two amendments, passed in December 1977 and July 1978) set out the legal framework for abortion in New Zealand. The Care of Children Act is also relevant as it makes provisions for abortion provision to girls under the age of consent, 16.
